Oorlogskloof Nature Reserve Hiking Trail

Situated in the Northern Cape approximately 350 km from Cape Town, Oorlogskloof Nature Reserve with its Mediterranean climate, deep ravines, diverse flora and fauna (including the clawless otter and leopard) and interesting rock formations is a hikers paradise. Oorlogskloof (literally meaning ‘war gorge’) gets its name from skirmishes that occurred in the area around the mid 1800s between Boer stock farmers and Khoi (or Hottentot) herders. There is a total of 146 km of hiking trails in the Reserve which can be completed in sections or as a single hike ranging from one to seven days. The maximum size of a hiking group in the area is 30.
