Hex River Mountains - Western Cape The Hex River Mountains are approximately one hundred kilometres from Cape Town and lies to the north of Worcester between the N1 and Ceres. These are one of the most awe inspiring ranges in South Africa with its 2000m peaks, sheer exposures, interlaced ridges, gorges and kloofs with its dense bush and high waterfalls. This is one of the remaining true wilderness areas, giving the mountaineer a sense of being in a very remote area, yet still close to the city. Opportunities for long, strenuous traverses with beautiful scenery are endless, but must be left to those who are willing and fit enough to take on the challenge.
