Desmond grew up in Pacaltsdorp, awhere he excelled at school and later attended the University of the Western Cape where he qualified as a teacher. Not forgetting his roots, he returned to Pacaltsdorp where he taught and played an active role in the upliftment of especially the youth. After several years of teaching he decided that it was time for new challenges.

Trevor Johnston grew up in an area of Cape Town. He succeeded in developing strong survival instincts and the will to win. This, together with his unassailable sense of community and family values, saw Trevor embrace and create unique opportunities to rise above his circumstances, dare to dream and climb the world’s highest mountain.

Trevor has 20 years of hiking, rock climbing, ice climbing and mountaineering training and experience.
