2DesmondDesmond grew up in Pacaltsdorp, awhere he excelled at school and later attended the University of the Western Cape where he qualified as a teacher. Not forgetting his roots, he returned to Pacaltsdorp where he taught and played an active role in the upliftment of especially the youth. After several years of teaching he decided that it was time for new challenges.

Mountaineering and Outdoor Adventure experience

  • International trekking experience: French Pyrenees and Ben Nevis.
  • African climbing and hiking experience: summited Kilimanjaro (Tanzania) and completed Fish River Canyon (Namibia) hiking trail.
  • Hiked extensively in South Africa. Expert knowledge of especially the Outeniqua and Tsitsikamma hiking trails (Southern Cape).
  • Above average knowledge of the fauna and flora of the Western Cape.
  • Widely travelled, especially Europe and Africa.

Work Experience as a Tour and Mountain Guide

  • Standard tour guide operator for the Western Cape region for the past 5 years.
  • Highly experienced tour guide having worked for several large tour operators.
  • Professional mountain guide for the past year.

2TrevorTrevor Johnston grew up in an area of Cape Town. He succeeded in developing strong survival instincts and the will to win. This, together with his unassailable sense of community and family values, saw Trevor embrace and create unique opportunities to rise above his circumstances, dare to dream and climb the world’s highest mountain.

 

Trevor’s Vision:

“I strive to promote the rights of all children. I passionately believe in outdoor experiential education as a means to instil positive values and attitudes, enhance leadership abilities and self reliance through encouragement, motivation, patience, leadership and understanding.”

Trevor has 20 years of hiking, rock climbing, ice climbing and mountaineering training and experience.
